The "Ring für Gruppenimprovisation" (Society for
Improvised Music) arose in 1964 from a circle of musicians, teachers,
psychologists, therapists and interested ama-teurs around the violinist
and improvisation teacher Lilli Friedemann (1906 - 91).
We are a forum for people who are interested in improvised music.
We want to improve the quality of methodology, theory and practice
of improvised music and are open for those who want to teach, to
practice or to learn this discipline.
For us improvisation means interaction especially using the extended
material of contemporary music. Our aim is to cultivate and promote
improvisation
- as a form of artistic expression
- as a way of creating your own music
- as an activity for pedagogical and therapeutical purposes.
